The exchange rate used to calculate the 2019 BPS has been confirmed by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) at €1 = £0.89092, which is very similar to the 2018 rate (€1 = £0.89281).
The exact value of each entitlement will not be confirmed until November, as it is based on the total number of hectares of eligible land claimed for in each region, however farmers should expect to receive very similar payments to the previous year – £228 per hectare after the Financial Discipline Mechanism had been applied.
The BPS payments are due to be paid from 2 December 2019 and it has been confirmed that the payments will be made at the fixed level even if the UK leaves the EU in the meantime.
